Bear Lake

Last weekend (Labor Day,) we decided kind of last minute to go camping at Bear Lake since I actually didn't have any rehearsals. We camped Friday and Saturday night at Sunrise Campground, which is a few miles west of Garden City. It was a nice camp site, big and kind of secluded and fully shaded and forested. The only down fall was no flush toilets.

We saw deer several time right around our site, a mom and 3 babies, and we also saw a mom and baby moose! The kids had a lot of fun collecting different weapons, (sticks,) and putting them in their "lairs."

We went to the lake on Saturday. The kids had a great time playing in the sand, they took turns burying each other.

They played in the water some, though it was a little cold and breezy and Benjamin and Ryan wouldn't get in unless Jonathan was holding them because they didn't like the squishy, seaweedy bottom.

There was one incident that put a damper on things. On Saturday morning while sitting around the fire, Joshua was tipping in his camping chair and he lost his balance and tipped forward into the fire. He got his hands on the opposite side of the metal ring that goes around the fire pit and his feet on the ground on the other side so he was tented over the fire. We pulled him off, but he burned the palms of his hands. He spent the day holding cold water bottles. His hands did blister several days later, but all is well and we're lucky that it wasn't worse.
