Three Cheers for Tax Refunds

I finished our taxes last night and we are getting lots of money back! A couple of the greatest tax things are the Child Tax Credit (4 of those - 5 for next year's taxes!) and deducting mortgage interest. That alone makes owning a house worthwhile. We will be using our refund to do some home improvements, mainly remodeling our bathrooms. My dad plans to come out this summer to do projects and so we'll have free labor, which always helps. Depending on what we end up doing to the bathrooms I'm hoping there might even be enough money left over for desperately needed new carpet, but we'll have to see. So whenever I get nice big refunds like this, which so far in life has been the norm, it makes me think maybe taxes aren't too terrible.
