Our backyard

So here is the story of our backyard. Along the fence in the back, someone years ago laid down black plastic and then covered it with small landscaping rocks. We decided we wanted to landscape back there so Jonathan determined we had to dig it all up.

So after much digging we ended up with a huge pile of rocks all along the side of our house, which we then had to figure out what to do with.

At first we planned to somehow throw them away, but then decided that rather then pay to do that we could use the rocks instead. So we are going to hardscape all along that side of the house, making a rock path walkway area from the gate back along to the sheds. So this entails sifting out all those rocks, as we don't want all the dirt and other junk that is in the piles along with the rocks. So I have been spending hours sifting the rocks for this project.

We started this a couple of Saturdays ago and Ryan decided the only place he wanted to be in the backyard was right by my side "helping" me. He liked to pick up the rocks and throw them in the wheelbarrow and there were many times where he apparently decide a certain rock was dirty and so he took the matter of cleaning it into his own hands, or mouth rather. He certainly ate a lot of dirt that day!!

We haven't worked on it much due to general busyness, hot weather, rainy weather, etc. Here's what it looks like at this moment. If we ever finish it, I'll post pictures of it, since Jonathan thinks it will look just lovely.
